Rylee had outpatient surgery on 3-24-08 to remove a foreign object that she decided to put in her ear. For over 6 months she has been telling Heathe and I that she had a "corn on the cob" in her ear. Heathe and I decided that it was highly unlikely that she would have a "corn on the cob" in her ear, and that is was probably just ear wax. Well, at Rylee's 5 year physical her doctor looked in her ear and agreed with Rylee that there was indeed something in her right ear. So, he referred us to an Ear Nose and Throat doctor. We met with him last week and he immediately concluded that there was a red bead in her ear. After much discussion with her teachers at school we finally came to the conclusion that it was not a red bead, but a piece of Indian Corn. Yep, she put a piece of Indian Corn in her ear at nap time and couldn't get it out. I guess we will listen to her the next time she tells us that something is in her ear! Thank goodness it didn't cause any damage and there wasn't any infection behind the piece of corn.
